SARS-CoV-19

We have all witnessed the horror, brought by novel coronavirus causing COVID-19 subsequently named SARS-CoV-19 has brought to our lives, the worst disaster in the 21st century and it is continuing to claim a lot of lives worldwide since the first case that was discovered in Wuhan the epicentre in China December 2019 which the first human case was linked to a wholesale food market in Wuhan and the first case to be reported in Africa was in Egypt on 14 February since then as from 29th May 2020 52 countries have reported cases.

According to the World Health Organization and I quote, people of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus (COVID 19). Older people and people with pre-existing medical conditions such as Obesity, Asthma, Diabetes, and heart disease appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus. WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus by Practicing;

ROLE OF WOMEN IN PEACE BUILDING IN POST-CONFLICT RECONSTRUCTION

The economic reconstruction of a country emerging from war is crucial and complex and directly or indirectly shapes women and men post war livelyhood.

since most of the women were not involved directly in the conflict they are the best to be involved in the peacebuilding process, most of the Organisations communities tend to ignore the role that women play in the peacebuilding process and that tends to undermine their ability to bring the community together they still believe that they are better off at home, but we believe that during the war they the most affected since most them are not allowed to carry weapon and go to the streets to march or fight with men; they the most vulnerable during the war most are raped, beaten, trafficked and killed, if am not allowed to carry my weapon and defend myself then am the better person to be involved the peacebuilding process, because I have not confronted directly with someone and most us are raped mistreated and killed just for nothing.

it is time now to understand the role of women in the peacebuilding process is very crucial and important firstly they have the ability naturally of caring and supportive in homes and if they can use that ability in the peacebuilding process then we are assured that they can really and able to deliver whatever task they are given like for example you cannot send a wolf to look after the sheeps, if you are involved in the war you need someone else who is neutral and has not involved in the conflict to help in the conflict resolution so that both parties can work on their differences.
Women are known to be sentimental on the other side when men feel remorse aftermath of the war, so the question is who is the better involved in the spearheading peacebuilding process question which is left for us to answer.

THE ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION

The economic reconstruction of a country emerging from war is crucial and complex and directly or indirectly shapes women and men post-war livelihood, while governments and external financial institutions play a crucial role in the recovery of economy shattered by war, post-war is very expensive and usually fragile any wrong move can lead to ignition of a different kind of war which threatens the beginning of new era of war and unending destruction.
so it is advisable to handle the little resources that remain to be distributed or used to fund the infrastructure and other projects throughout the country and they should come up policies and oversight committee to so that there is transparency in the process of reconstruction.

PEACE BUILDING AND POST CONFLICT RECONSTRUCTION

PART 1

Before even we begin with peace building we must first understand what is conflict post conflict Reconstruction and peace building,

Conflict has been defined by scholars in different versions one being:

a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one.

a state of mind in which a person experiences a clash of opposing feelings or needs.

a serious incompatibility between two or more opinions, principles, or interests.

without proper conflict resolution it can lead to full blown war, it is better for us not to underestimate existing conflict even though how small it is. and each of us play a particular role in an existing conflict even though if you are not involved directly, and it is our duty to understand it before it escalates. and like i said even if you are not involved directly you exists as a third party.

talking about Africa for long it has experienced countless violence that ussually leads to full blown war and ussually caused by struggle for power and distribution of Resources,

good examples are:

Tanzania and Uganda

The Uganda–Tanzania War, known in Tanzania as the Kagera War and in Uganda as the 1979 Liberation War, was fought between Uganda and Tanzania from October 1978 until June 1979, and led to the overthrow of Idi Amin’s regime. Idi Amin’s forces included thousands of troops sent by Libya.

Libya

The Second Libyan Civil War^[85] is an ongoing conflict among rival factions seeking control of the territory and oil of Libya. The conflict at the beginning was mostly between the House of Representatives (HoR) government that was controversially elected in 2014, also known as the “Tobruk government”; and the rival General National Congress (GNC) government, also called the “National Salvation Government“, based in the capital Tripoli, established after Operation Odyssey Dawn and the failed military coup. South Sudan

The South Sudanese Civil War is an ongoing conflict in South Sudan between forces of the government and opposition forces. In December 2013, President Kiir accused his former deputy Riek Machar and ten others of attempting a coup d’état. (source Wikipedia)

just to mention but few.

we all believe and know that conflicts dont ussually end well and the most affected are women and children,

women have capacity for both violence and peace, women must be encouraged to bring their unique insights and gifts to the process of peacebuilding. in the process of peacebuilding different stakeholders and organisations should come together and create a platform which is neautral ground for both affected countries and individuals a safe zone where they can share their experience and mostly include the youths and women for the women are affected the most.

women play a key role in preserving order and normally in the midst of chaos and destruction as a result of usolved conflict, in times of war women when men engage in war and most of them die or others take refuge in other countries, it is women who are left with the burden of ensuring family livelyhood.

women struggle to protect their families and provide safety a task which rests on their abilities to cope with and adversity.
